I am carving a series of cups to sell or trade at Bonnaroo 2010!

This is the first one of the series.  I have 16 more, and am about to start carving them.  If you would like to place an order, shoot me an email at juliannecorinne@gmail.com and we will discuss.  The series will have most of the Avett Brothers albums, and I also carve portraits of the guys.  I am planning to sell them in sets of 4 or 2.  Each cup will be $60 - $80 each.  A lot of time goes into carving them.  For the hardcore fans, they will be something to cherish forever.  They are made of porcelain clay, all signed by me and numbered. If you have a specific request for photos you would like carved, email the image ASAP!  To see more of my work, please go to www.personalizedurns.com or http://www.personalizedurns.com/Commemorative_Vases.html

I can make these in most colors; however, I prefer to work with black underglaze.  I plan on making at least one series of all the albums, so there will be a baby blue Four Theives Gone, a red and a yellow Gleam, etc.  Please email with specific requests.

This makes it all worthwile ~

A Thousand Humble Thank You’s ~ from Dwaine

Just wanted to say thank you a thousand times for the vase.  I’ve attached a picture of my dad with the beautiful vase (he calls it a jug, which was/is hard for me to not correct but he also pronounces Walmart, WalmarK, and we correct that all the time to no avail so I let him call it a jug).  He had no idea what was going on when I pulled it out and we gave it to him.  Suffice it to say as it kind of sank in and he saw the picture and read the words, everyone was quiet around the table (besides me taking pictures).  He kept saying ‘that’s nice, that’s nice’ until his eyes welled up with tears, as well as the eyes of everyone else.  It was a nice moment shared by Kevin, Mom and Gary and Dad and Sharon.  Everyone absolutely loved it and raved at how talented you are and that you should do more things like that because you are so good.  I agreed.

Hope everything is great with you and just thought I’d share with you special family moment you helped create.  Thanks so much Julianne Corinne Blackburn.

Story behind the Avett Stuff

Julianne models for Scott Avett of The Avett Brothers.  He is a graduate of the School of Art and Design at ECU.  Scott lives in Concord, North Carolina when he’s not on tour.  He chose to use a painting he painted of Julianne for the cover of their Columbia/Sony BMG release produced by “super producer” Rick Rubin.  The album is titled “I and Love and You” and they performed the title track on the David Letterman Show on September 28, 2009.  They also performed on October 6, 2009 on the Craig Ferguson Show a song called “Laundry Room” from the new album.

Julianne also did the calligraphy for the cover of the album, song titles, as well as the bio.  She was contracted by Sony/BMG, working with Dave Bett; Art Director from Sony.  The Avett Brothers have been Julianne’s favorite band for a decade, so this has been a huge honor.  Her favorite song to see live is still “I Killed Sally’s Lover” and “Paranoia in Bb” is another favorite.  The images below are of Julianne, the black and white image is the cover of the 7” vinyl release, and the dark painting is the cover for the new album.  You may realize that she looks older in this, there was a board topic on their website that speculates on that idea.
